**A Day in the Life**

In this position you will provide intellectual property legal support to multiple RD sites and several Medtronic Operating Units in Israel. You will be located at one of the sites and required to periodically visit other sites in Israel. At present, Medtronic has RD sites in Yoqneam, Caesarea, Herzeliya, Petach-Tikva, Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem. As part of our international collaborative IP team you will report into the Head of Intellectual Property Operations EMEA and support IP Partners of several Operating Units in implementing their global IP strategies. To this end you will support the local product development and research teams and advise internal clients at all levels of RD and business leadership in Israel on various IP matters.

Medtronic considers Israel as an excellent location for RD and as a result multiple Medtronic Operating Unit carry out important RD activities in multiple sites in Israel. These include Medtronics Spinal Robotics site in Caesarea, the Gastrointestinal site in Yoqneam where we develop the next generation of the PillCam capsule endoscope, the Patient Monitoring site in Jerusalem that is a center of world-class expertise in the space of capnography and brain monitoring, the Petakh-Tikva site that leads the development of Medtronics surgical visualization solutions.


Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Provide advice and counsel on intellectual property matters, including identifying patentable inventions

Either yourself or with the help of outside counsel prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications to obtain broadest possible protection for inventions originating from the local inventors

Ensure that all commercially important inventions originating from the Israeli RD sites are protected by valid intellectual property rights

Assist in preparing freedom-to-operate clearances for new products developed in Israeli RD sites

Identify and protect valuable trade secrets created in the Israeli RD sites

Provide support in appeal and interference proceedings, and in enforcement of IP rights


**Must Have:**

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics, Physics or similar scientific background required

Qualified to act before the Israeli Patent Office and/or a major Patent Office (Israeli Patent Agent, US patent agent, US patent attorney, European Patent Attorney, etc.)

Minimum of 3, preferably 5 or more years of relevant experience in IP after passing the exam as Patent Agent or Patent Attorney


**Nice to have:**

Knowledge about protecting software and artificial intelligence related inventions

Both in-house and law firm experience

Excellent judgment, strong strategic and analytical thinking and ability to work on multiple projects at the same time

Excellent priority-setting skills and communications skills to deal with direct client contact and management

Proficiency in engineering, strong creative abilities, and scientific principles

Understanding of basic business concepts, strategies, and risks

Broad IP experience, including patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate, opinion preparation, licensing, and IP transactions

Medical device experience

Litigation experience

Possess a strong commitment to company values
